Non-profit Buddhist organizations are designed to bring spiritual well-being and peace into people’s hearts. They are not designed to maximize material or financial gains. Instead, a Buddhist organization’s profits are measured by the spiritual gains of its supporters. Offering knowledge and understanding about what brings peace and harmony into their lives is a key measure of the organization’s success. This means that we teach what should be taught, out of compassion for our supporters, regardless of their status or means. In return the supporters give what they can spare because they feel inclined to share. They give simply because giving is good for the heart and because daily acts of generosity help to ensure the survival of the Dhamma as a living principle.
